With graduation exhibitions flying here there and everywhere this summer, it seems new illustrators and designers are coming out of the woodworks, but few manage to really blow me away. one of these newbies is Tom Clohosey Cole, one of this years brand spanking new graduates from Kingston University. Studying Illustration, it seems Tom is more than ready to fly the nest, with his intelligent ideas lightly dusted with humor, teamed with brilliant color and a clear talent for printmaking, it seems this is just the beginning for Tom. I caught up with him recently with just enough time for him to tell me what his Degree show piece was about...


"Are you covered? We are encouraged to feel as though unless we are ‘covered’ by insurance, we are not far from impending disaster. W.O.E Insurance is a fictional observation of a traveling insurance salesman. These images come from a screen printed concertina book, which was designed to act as a catalogue of life insurance policies available from W.O.E Insurance. The policies are illustrations of the 10 most likely accidents to be covered against when taking out life insurance."
It's clear that Tom's passion for esthetics and intellect are going to take this young illustrator to some pretty interesting places, and we're excited where Tom's talent is taken to next...
